SHARC Peer Worker Training – November 2024

Peer Projects, a program of SHARC are thrilled to announce registrations are now open for the next round of SHARC Peer Worker Training. Details as follows:

Duration: 5 days, 9:30am – 4:00pm each day.

Dates: 27th, 28th, 29th November and 3rd, 4th, December 2024.

Where: Face to face training, details of location and times to be sent once registered.

Summary:
Peer workers, like in any professional discipline, need quality, standardised training and ongoing professional development. Through extensive research and co-design, SHARC has developed Peer Worker Training. This comprehensive training provides a vital knowledge base for peer workers and ensures that the peer workforce has a discipline-specific framework to assist them in working within formalised and clinical settings.

Audience:
This training is designed for current peer workers, emerging peer workers, volunteer peer workers and those with lived/living experience interested in participating in peer work.

Outline:
The SHARC Peer Worker Training seeks to:
•          Educate peer workers around the concepts and core competencies of the peer work discipline

•          Assist peer workers to apply best practice peer work in formalised settings
•          Explore the key components of the role with a focus on the peer relationship
•          Increase confidence and develop skills in communication and navigating relational parameters
•          Develop understandings of ethical practice and workplace legislative requirements
•          Empower peer workers to advocate for the discipline and manage their own wellbeing and development needs
•          Prepare peer workers to work across a number of domains, remaining ‘peer’ within clinical governance frameworks
Cost inclusive of GST:Full price: $1896.40
Concession Price: $763.40

Please note that the concession price only applies if an individual is paying for a spot in the training themselves, if a third party is paying on your behalf, then the concession rate doesn’t apply.

The cost of the training includes lunch, refreshments, snacks, tea & coffee being catered for each day of the training as well as training manuals, resources and materials required to complete the training.
